Participial Adjectives 1 -ed / -ing
Cause vs. Receiver of an Emotion
A participial adjective modifies a noun and may indicate:
– source of feeling or emotion
– receiver of feeling or emotion
1) Many persons, hoping to skim the cream, have made lists of so-called “bests.”
Called is the past participle of CALL, here used as adjective. So-called modifies bests.
2) You probably have felt discouraged and dissatisfied with some of the lists.
You have felt is the verb. Discouraged and dissatisfied are past participle of discourage and dissatisfy. Because of the LIST
YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE ENDING (-ED, -ING) TO IDENTIFY THE PARTICIPIAL ADJECTIVE.
You can do it!
